How we set up here
Old town up top, olive groves all around
Sanlúcar la Mayor has kept a compact historic core, with Mudéjar-style churches and narrow streets, perched on the edge of the Aljarafe above the plain.
In the old town, the set-up is that of an old village: narrow streets, tight pavements and slopes in some areas. Unloading happens at an agreed time, and equipment is carried in by hand where the vehicle cannot fit. In the newer districts and on the approaches from the A-49 there is no difficulty at all, and out towards the countryside, tracks lead to estates and haciendas.
Olive-grove haciendas
This is one of the parts of the province with the most haciendas and olive-farm cortijos converted into or used as celebration venues. A hacienda set-up is a zone-by-zone set-up: courtyard for the ceremony, garden for the cocktail reception, hall or marquee for the banquet and another space for dancing, with considerable distances between them. All the cabling is planned in advance, because once the tables are in place you can no longer run a cable through the middle.
Power and wind on the escarpment
An estate's electrical supply rarely covers sound, decorative lighting and catering all at once, so we check it beforehand and bring a generator if it falls short. And on the edge of the escarpment, with the open plain in front, the afternoon wind is a real factor: tall stands, screens and any lightweight structure get ballasted, no exceptions.

What gets celebrated
Country weddings and village festivities
The town combines its own festive calendar with a busy schedule of celebrations in the surrounding countryside.
Weddings and hacienda celebrations are the most frequent bookings, following the usual multi-zone layout: discreet microphones for the ceremony, background music for the cocktail reception, a full-bodied system for the dancing and decorative lighting. First Communion parties in May repeat the pattern in a shorter format, as do anniversaries and corporate events on estates.
In the town itself, the fair and the patron saint festivities account for most street set-ups, with stage platforms, an outdoor sound system and lighting, and throughout the year there are cultural events and family celebrations in function rooms and municipal venues, with simpler equipment.

Frequently asked questions
Questions about celebrations in Sanlúcar
How many sound systems does a hacienda wedding need?
Usually three systems: a small one for the ceremony, a distributed one for the cocktail reception and the main one for the dancing. Trying to cover everything with a single system means moving it mid-event, and that never goes well.
Will you visit the estate beforehand?
For weddings, yes, or we ask for photos and approximate distances. We need to know where the electrical panel is, how the zones are laid out and where the cabling can run without getting in the way.
What happens if it gets windy in the afternoon?
We plan for it. Anything tall is ballasted or braced, and if the forecast is bad we rethink the placement. On the edge of the Aljarafe, afternoon wind is the norm, not a surprise.
