Inside the walls and beyond
Marchena has kept much of its town walls and gates, with narrow streets inside the old centre and more open spaces in the newer districts and squares.
Access to the walled centre is through gates and narrow streets, so setting up there means agreeing a time, unloading quickly and accepting that equipment is carried in by hand on some stretches. As in any setting with protected buildings, nothing is fixed to historic walls: structures are free-standing and ballasted, and cabling is tidied away so it does not cross walkways.
Spacious squares and public events
Outside the walls there are good-sized squares and open spaces where most public events are held. In a square surrounded by façades, sound bounces and the level rises easily; we control this by splitting the system across two points and aiming it at the audience, not at the buildings. For concerts, the set-up includes a stage or platform and a structure for flying sound and lighting.
Countryside and distance
The municipal area is agricultural and extensive, with cortijos and estates several kilometres from the town. When the event is out in the countryside, access, ground conditions and power have to be sorted, which almost always means a generator. And since we are three quarters of an hour from Seville, equipment is prepared to keep trips to a minimum and we arrive with time to spare.
