How we set up here
Everything slopes down to the river, and that shapes the set-up
Coria's town centre runs downhill from the upper part to the bank of the Guadalquivir. There are slopes, narrow streets and a long, open riverfront.
In the old part of town the streets are narrow and uneven: we unload wherever we can and move the equipment up or down by trolley, allowing for the gradient. On the riverside promenade, by contrast, the space is wide and flat, and that is where the town's outdoor events are concentrated. Vehicle access is often restricted along some stretches, so it is worth confirming where we can get in and at what time.
Sound by the water
The river changes two things. The first is propagation: there are no obstacles over water and sound travels much further than you would expect, so a level that seems reasonable on the bank can be heard perfectly on the opposite side. The second is humidity and the night-time dew, which mean the control position, connections and equipment must be protected if the set-up stays overnight. In summer there is also the afternoon wind, which moves screens and lightweight structures: anything raised up high gets ballasted.
Power on the promenade
Street-furniture sockets, where there are any, rarely provide enough power for sound, lighting and a stage at the same time. For medium-sized events we bring a generator; for small set-ups (a presentation, a short performance, an association event) a battery-powered portable system works very well and also avoids cables crossing a pedestrian area.

What gets celebrated
Street events, evening gatherings and family celebrations
Coria is a town with a lively street life and a close bond with the river, and its events calendar reflects that.
As in most towns in the province, there is a fair, patron saint festivities, May Crosses (Cruces de Mayo) and summer evening festivals, and many of these celebrations are set up outdoors with a caseta (fair marquee), platform or stage. These installations demand rugged equipment, protection from dust and sun, and set-up times agreed with the town council.
The rest of the year is mostly family celebrations (First Communions, christenings, birthdays) in the town's halls and venues, plus events for associations and religious brotherhoods, which usually need a clear PA system more than music. There is also demand for sound at sporting and water-sports activities by the river, with commentary and announcements.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions in Coria
Can a stage be set up on the riverside promenade?
Yes, with council permission and as long as the surface can take the load and there is access for unloading. We also allow for the wind: any raised structure or screen is ballasted or braced.
Can the sound be heard from the other bank?
Easily. There is nothing over the water to stop the sound, so we set the level and aim the speakers with that in mind. When there are noise complaints at a riverside event, they almost always come from far away.
Can the equipment stay outdoors all night?
If it is protected, yes. We cover the control position and the connections, and we avoid leaving sensitive equipment exposed to the night dew. When rain is forecast we plan things differently or look for a covered alternative.
Planning an event by the Guadalquivir?
Tell us whether it is on the promenade, in a square or in a hall, and how many people you expect. We will tell you what equipment and power you need.
