Genil countryside (Campiña del Genil)

Event sound systems in Écija

At the eastern edge of the province, beside the River Genil. A Baroque old town of narrow streets and towers, and a summer that forces a rethink of the timing of any set-up.

How we set up here

Distance, narrow streets and serious heat

Écija is far from Seville by provincial standards, has a historic centre packed tightly between churches and palaces, and has a well-deserved reputation as one of the hottest places in the country.

The distance calls for better planning: trips are grouped together, equipment is checked twice before leaving and we carry spares for whatever tends to fail, because going back to the warehouse for a cable is not an option. Inside the old town, around the main square and the streets linking the churches, the layout is narrow with pedestrianised stretches, so unloading is done in set time slots and the equipment goes in on trolleys.

The heat is not a footnote; it is a set-up parameter

In summer, setting up at midday in a square in full sun is a bad idea for both people and equipment. Amplifiers and power amps are protected from the heat, screens and the control position are shaded, and the set-up is moved to first thing in the morning or late afternoon. You also have to bear in mind that equipment left in the sun for hours is already hot when the event starts, which is exactly when it is pushed hardest.

Squares, courtyards and venues

The centre has squares and courtyards in historic buildings that are used for cultural events. These are highly reverberant spaces, surrounded by tall façades, where sound bounces around and the level shoots up easily: the answer is distributed systems aimed at the audience. For concerts and big parties we work at open-air venues, with a stage, structure and generator.

What gets celebrated

Summer festivities, cultural events and countryside celebrations

Écija's calendar is split between spring and summer street events and indoor celebrations the rest of the year.

The fair, patron saint festivities, open-air veladas and concerts account for the outdoor set-ups, with a stage, sound sized to the venue and live-show lighting. The town also holds cultural events at its heritage sites, which call for discreet set-ups that respect the surroundings.

Outside the town, the Genil countryside is full of cortijos and farms where weddings, anniversaries and company events are held. These are countryside set-ups: access by dirt track, our own power and sound systems spread across zones. And during the school year there are school events, graduations and family celebrations in the town's banqueting halls.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions in Écija

Can you get to Écija without any problem?

Yes, it is one of the province's main towns where we work regularly. Travel is priced by distance and itemised; if the set-up needs two trips, you will see that reflected.

How do you protect the equipment from the summer heat?

With shade over the control position and the amps, ventilation and, where possible, setting up at times with less sun. Equipment running at forty-plus degrees performs worse and protects itself by shutting down: it is better to prevent that than to find out in the middle of a concert.

Can you leave the equipment set up for several days?

Yes, if the space is supervised and secure. In fact, for distant set-ups it often works out better: one trip there and one back, instead of repeating the journey every day.

We are a town council. Can you invoice as a supplier?

Yes. We are a company and we work with invoices showing VAT separately, with the itemised breakdown that administrative procedures usually require.
