How we set up here

The old town climbs, and so does the equipment

Morón rises up the slope of a hill crowned by its castle, with steep streets in the upper part and flatter, more modern areas in the lower part of town.

For a set-up in the upper town you have to allow for the gradient and narrow streets: we unload at the nearest accessible point and take the equipment up on trolleys, which adds time and sometimes extra crew. In the lower part, by contrast, access is normal and the vehicle can pull up right at the venue. Knowing in advance which part of town the event is in saves us a lot of work.

Proper sound for flamenco

Morón has a deeply rooted tradition of flamenco guitar (toque) and singing (cante), and the audience here notices straight away when a system is badly set up. At a recital, the aim is for the guitar to come through with its full body and the voice without colouration, with the monitor placed so the performer can hear themselves without feedback. That is achieved with the right microphones, low gain and restrained EQ, not with power.

Venues, the sierra and distance

Outside the old town there are open venues and large spaces for festivities and concerts, plus hill country with estates and cortijos where private events are held. In all of these cases power has to be sorted (usually with a generator) and the journey from Seville, about an hour, has to be factored in, so the set-up is organised with time to spare and spares are taken along.

What gets celebrated

Flamenco, town festivities and open-air events

Activity is split between the town's festive calendar and a cultural programme that carries real weight of its own.

Recitals and flamenco performances are a signature booking here: small and mid-sized set-ups where the quality of the microphones is what counts. Alongside them come the fair, the patron saint festivities and the evening celebrations (veladas), set up with a stage, an outdoor sound system and lighting, plus concerts at venues, which call for checking the rider and preparing monitoring and backline.

Throughout the year there are also civic events, sports activities and family celebrations in local function rooms, with simpler equipment, as well as weddings and First Communion parties at country estates in the surrounding hills, which we plan zone by zone and with their own power supply.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions in Morón

What equipment does a flamenco recital need?

For a room or a medium-sized courtyard: a small distributed system, two or three well-chosen microphones and monitors. What makes the difference is the tuning and placement, not the wattage.

My street is in the upper part of town and very steep. Can you get the equipment up there?

Yes, just let us know. We prepare a set-up in more manageable loads and bring enough crew. It only affects the set-up time, not the equipment that plays.

How long does it take you to get there from Seville?

Around an hour, depending on the route and traffic. That is why we set off with time to spare and carry spares: at that distance, going back for a part is not an option.

Can you work for a town council or an association?

Yes. We issue invoices with VAT itemised, and we can break down each line item and provide the technical information about the equipment that is usually required for the paperwork.
