How we set up here
A tiny old quarter with a new town all around it
Bormujos keeps a very small traditional centre, with narrow streets around the church, surrounded by recent neighbourhoods with wide avenues and plenty of green space.
You notice the difference as soon as you arrive. In the streets of the historic centre you have to find somewhere to stop and expect to unload with a trolley; in the rest of the town, which is most of it, you can park right next to the venue. Bormujos is also one of the Aljarafe towns with the most recent public facilities (schools, sports centres, a cultural centre and a district hospital), so there are quite a few institutional and association events in purpose-built venues.
Housing estates and terraced houses
A large share of homes are terraced houses and blocks with communal areas. For a party in a terraced-house patio there is less leeway than on a large plot: the party walls are close and sound carries through. The answer is a small system aimed carefully into the property, with no subwoofer or a very restrained one, and an agreed finishing time. In community halls the limitation is the low ceiling, which saturates very quickly.
Municipal venues
Events organised by the council, schools or associations usually take place in a sports hall, a square or a municipal hall. In a sports hall you have to allow for heavy reverberation: the system is distributed and aimed at the audience, not at the back wall, and voices are reinforced with headset microphones so nothing gets lost. In a square, as always outdoors, you need a bigger system and a reliable power source.

What gets celebrated
Schools, First Communions and neighbourhood parties
It is a young town with many families, and that shapes the kind of bookings we get for most of the year.
From March to June it is mostly First Communion parties and end-of-year school parties, with simple set-ups (a system with a microphone, music and sometimes entertainment) in halls, schools and communal areas. Summer brings housing-estate parties and evening events, while autumn and winter bring cultural events, talks and family celebrations in hired halls.
There is also demand for somewhat larger events: Three Kings parades and Christmas events, sporting activities and presentations. Those call for a distributed PA system and, if there is a route, battery-powered equipment that moves with the procession.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions in Bormujos
Can you bring equipment for an end-of-year party at a school?
Yes, it is a common set-up. We usually bring a system for the playground or assembly hall, a wireless microphone for the presenter and music playback. If it is in the playground in full sun, we protect the equipment and the control position.
I have a terraced-house patio. Will a DJ set-up fit?
Yes, in a compact format: a small DJ booth and two small speakers. What we do not recommend in a patio with party walls is a big subwoofer, because the issue is not the volume you hear but the volume your neighbour hears through the wall.
Do you set up in sports halls or municipal facilities?
Yes. For those venues we need to know whether there is an accessible electrical panel, where the control position can go and whether a vehicle can drive up to the court. With that, the installation runs smoothly.
